“Anglo-American thought’s domination in the new media plays. Analysis of the Skype Duet, Harket [Protocolo] and 9 días de Guerra en Facebook.”

In this paper the main argument spins around the Anglo-American thought’s predominance in the scenic projects that use new media. While globalization has blurred the cultural differences through the mass media, we can note on hybrid between art-technology the dominance of the Anglo-American thought.

I have selected three plays to explain my hypotheses about new media art and Anglo-American philosophy. Which are Skype Duet by Brina Stinehelfer (NY-Berlin, 2011) Harket [Protocolo] by Juan Pablo Mendiola (Spain, 2013) and 9 días de guerra en Facebook by Luis Mario Moncada (Mexico, 2010).

In all three projects the use of performativity around of technology in the scene is essential to build understanding with the viewer. Besides, we can see values learned from capitalism, globalization and the digital culture, values mainly generated by the technological development in the United States and The United Kingdom. Loneliness, exclusion and social media, its bond with real life is shown in this paper.

It would be worth asking yourself is the Anglo -American thought exclusive to the U.S. and

the UK? What elements can we find fundamental in Anglo- American performativity that had spread to the international scene?

The research departs from the point of view of Judith Butler’s performativity, Richard Rorty’s reflections on mind and body and I will include the postmodern perspective of David Harvey.

Essentially, I believe that part of the mind to globalize is to allow transborder communication in which the place of origin and cultural identity, have some meanings, which share with other countries, these projects will allow me to explain clearly.

Claudia Marin Inclàn studied Master of Performing Arts at the Universidad Veracruzana. Degree in Dramatic Literature and Theater, (UNAM). She has studied acting with Mexican directors like Hector Mendoza and Rodolfo Valencia. She has also dabbled in singing, dance and photography integrated into theatrical expression. He has taught theater workshops in boarding schools, prisons and with marginalized communities. She directed the play “Between life and death” by Gao Xingjian (2007), “Telefonemas” (2006) by Edgar Chías, “Coro de Asesinas” (2002) by Stella Manaut and other collective creations. Nowadays, she realized an interchangeable to research new media and theatre in the Universidat de Valéncia.

Flore Garcin-Marrou est docteur en littérature française (Université Paris 4 – Sorbonne). Elle a enseigné les Études théâtrales à la Faculté libre des Sciences humaines de Lille et à l’Université Toulouse Le Mirail. Sa thèse s’intitule "Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari : entre théâtre et philosophie". Elle est l’auteur d’articles sur le théâtre au carrefour des sciences humaines. Elle est également metteur en scène de sa compagnie "La Spirale ascensionnelle" et poursuit un travail d’expérimentation théâtrale au sein du Laboratoire des Arts et Philosophies de la Scène (LAPS).
